<image:caption>You’re training at your baseline level of performance, then BOOM - unexpected knee injury. As a competitive athlete, this can create a major setback and leave you feeling discouraged Maybe you head to your doctor and they recommend you go see a PT 2-3x/week for 6-12 weeks. You head to your local chain physical therapy clinic and are given “the knee exercises” that they give to everybody, whether you’re a powerlifter, runner, or non-athlete.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Path from Injury to High-Level Performance - Recovery with ROC Physical Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Same starting point as above - BOOM, knee injury. Instead of going to your doctor, you realize that you can come right to ROC Physical Therapy to evaluate your injury. Since your performance and athletic goals are our goals, rehab complements your training instead of replacing it. You’ll typically come to 1 PT session per week, and after any hands-on work that needs to be done you will be given new exercises to add to your training program until the next session.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home</image:title>
<image:caption>Welcome to ROC Physical Therapy Our model of physical therapy allows you to recover from injuries faster so that you can get back to doing what you love. ROC Physical Therapy was started with the idea of providing the most efficient services and the best outcomes for our clients. The current trend in physical therapy is to treat a high volume of patients, which results in less individual attention. Our model does the exact opposite, 1-on-1 visits, maximizing personal attention so that recovery, relief from pain, and improved performance can happen as quickly as possible. So, not only do you recover from your injury that much faster, you don’t have to deal with the inconvenience and cost of multiple weekly office trips over an extended period of time.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Treatment is provided by a Doctor of Physical Therapy and therefore a physician’s referral is not needed in NYS to start physical therapy. Our Doctors of Physical Therapy are well trained in recognizing conditions that are not appropriate for physical therapy, and, if necessary, will refer you to the proper specialist for treatment.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Integrated Neurological and Orthopedic Treatment Approach Our approach is to assess & treat the whole body. This includes the local area of the pain or injury, the whole body as it supports that area, and the sensory and neurological systems that help us generate and control movement. Our focus is placed on merging the best of neuroscience strategies and musculoskeletal/orthopedic rehabilitation to treat pain and movement-related issues. We understand that every client is different, which is why each client receives individualized 1-on-1 treatment with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the entirety of each session. Education is at the forefront of everything we do. We believe that you, as the client, should have a clear understanding of what is going on in your body as well as the “why” behind all of our treatment strategies.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Our goal with our performance training is to harness the nervous system and musculoskeletal system to improve strength, speed, and power. The focus will be placed on building quality control, both consciously and subconsciously, building quality force generation capabilities through the upper body, lower body, and core, and offer ways to increase the interaction between these layers to improve your performance. This is a great way to ensure clients/athletes maintain a high quality of movement and help reduce injuries in all aspects of life and sport. Not an athlete but looking to stay fit? We also offer 1-on-1 general fitness training and instruction! Whether you are new to fitness or have been working out for years and just looking for a change, we can help!</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training</image:title>
<image:caption>Blood Flow Restriction Training, or BFR, utilizes specialized cuffs to partially occlude arterial and venous blood flow to and from muscles, resulting in greater workload and stress to the muscles during rest and/or exercise. This allows us to achieve greater improvements in muscle strength and size with lower intensity exercise at times when higher intensity exercise is not possible due to injury, pain, or recent surgery. BFR can make early-rehabilitation much more effective by minimizing muscle atrophy and detraining. BFR can also be a terrific supplement to an existing training plan.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, made popular with the Graston Technique, is utilized to alleviate symptoms associated with limited or painful motion, motor control issues such as coordination or muscle activation, and improve the body’s awareness of a particular area to improve muscle recruitment issues. Some of the common conditions that can be treated with IASTM are Achilles tendinosis, tendinopathies, IT band syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, and plantar fasciitis. These are just a few of the many injuries that IASTM can treat. IASTM is a tool we use to gain more benefit from our integrated hands-on and exercise-based approach.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Cold Laser</image:title>
<image:caption>Cold laser therapy is low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light. The technique is called “cold” laser therapy because the low levels of light aren’t enough to heal your body’s tissue or cause harm. During this procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light causes a reaction, and the damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration. Cold laser is used to reduce pain and improve healing for muscle injuries, sprains, tendinitis, bursitis, and muscle spasms.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Cupping Therapy</image:title>

<image:title>Sport-Specific Performance Training - Sport-Specific Performance Training</image:title>
<image:caption>Our performance training sessions are 100% tailored to what you need. Regardless of your current level of fitness, your program needs to be individualized to you and your goals in order for it to be successful. We never want to tell you that the answer is to stop doing what you love and our goal is to help you get back to those activities without the nagging aches and pains. With our high-level professional, collegiate, and high school athletes, our goal is always to improve performance on the field/court. What good is getting stronger if it doesn’t make you a better player in your given sport? We utilize the latest strength and conditioning techniques to harness the nervous system and musculoskeletal system to improve strength, speed, and power, all with the end-goal of allowing you to perform at your best. For youth athletes, we keep these same principles in mind but with an increased emphasis on developing a well-rounded athlete. As young athletes are developing, they are learning to efficiently move and control their bodies. We want to support this learning process and create a safe environment for these improvements to take place. Regardless of the sport, learning the basics of training in order to safely progress is critical for a long and successful career in sports. Our Sport-Specific Performance Training begins with an assessment focused on movement asymmetries, strength, and range of motion to develop prehab and warm up routines. These routines assist with maximizing the demands of training. Our assessments lead to the development of programs focus on performance, injury prevention, sports-specific tasks (such as running, jumping, and lifting), as well as speed, agility, strength, power and skill. <image:title>Cold Laser Therapy - Cold Laser Therapy</image:title>
Cold laser is used to reduce pain and improve healing for muscle injuries, sprains, tendinitis, bursitis, and muscle spasms. Want to give cold laser therapy a try? <image:title>KinesioTape (KT Tape) — Rochester, New York - KT Tape</image:title>
<image:caption>Therapeutic Kinesiology Tape, more commonly known as KT Tape, is often used by athletes and active individuals to provide relief when pain and injury are limiting movement capabilities. The science is not 100% clear on how exactly this tape works. We believe that this tape does not provide any physical structural support to the body. Rather, by contacting the skin in painful areas of the body, this tape may stimulate mechanoreceptors, which are basically specialized sensors in the skin that tell your brain when you’re being touched by light pressure, deep pressure, hot, cold, etc. Because this tape affects the body’s nervous system, it is not uncommon to see immediate improvements in pain, range of motion, motor output, and movement quality after application of KT Tape by your doctor of physical therapy. <image:title>Blood Flow Restriction Training — Rochester, New York - Blood Flow Restriction Training</image:title>
BFR can also be a terrific supplement to an existing training plan. Wondering if BFR Training is right for you? Click here to contact our doctors today! If you’d like to learn more about BFR Training, check out this blog post!
