Physical Therapy Done Right.
"Focused Attention Accelerates Healing."

The current trend in physical therapy is to treat a high volume of patients, which results in less individual attention. In fact, during most one-hour treatments, a patient will only spend 15 minutes with a physical therapist because the therapist sees multiple patients simultaneously.

When Dr. Michael Stewart, PT, DPT, SCS started ROC Physical Therapy, P.C., he took the exact opposite approach. His idea was to maximize personal attention so that recovery and relief from pain could happen as quickly as possible. He utilizes his expertise as a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, certification in cutting edge techniques in the fields of neuroscience and movement, and overall passion and experience to assist patients in meeting their goals quickly! That means that you receive the highest quality care.

To meet the growing needs of the clinic, Dr. Mike brought in Dr. Sean Rutherford, PT, DPT in late 2020. Dr. Sean was previously a traveling PT, which allowed him to work and learn alongside practitioners across the country with various treatment styles. Dr. Sean was eager to continue learning and implementing cutting-edge techniques with more traditional approaches in the fields of orthopedics and sports performance to maximize results.

Working with the Doctors of Physical Therapy at ROC Physical Therapy, you won’t need a physician’s prescription to schedule physical therapy. If during your visit your therapist determines that physical therapy is not appropriate for your condition, they refer you to the proper specialist for treatment.

Since you spend a full hour with a physical therapist at every session, the number of visits required is greatly reduced in most cases. At most physical therapy practices, patients are scheduled for two to three visits per week for six to eight weeks. With ROC Physical Therapy, the typical patient often only requires one visit per week.

So, not only do you recover from your injury that much faster, you don’t have to deal with the inconvenience and cost of multiple weekly office trips over an extended period of time.

Focused attention accelerates healing is our motto and we stand by it!

 Meet the ROC PT Team

Dr. Michael Stewart, PT, DPT, SCS

Owner of ROC Physical Therapy, P.C.

Dr. Michael Stewart has earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, along with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Nazareth College of Rochester. He started working in the Rochester Region in the orthopedic and sports setting immediately upon graduating. He quickly started to expand upon his education with acceptance and completion of the University of Rochester’s residency program in Sports Physical Therapy, earning the title of Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association.

During the following few months, he began to study and implement neuroscience in combination with traditional sports and orthopedic treatments. He attended Integrated Kinetic Neurology’s (IKN) Approach course to further expand his knowledge in this field. IKN’s teaching led him to believe by combining the most cutting-edge techniques in the fields of neuroscience and movement, there could be immediate and long-lasting effects such as decreased pain, along with improved performance, function, and quality of life. He is now an instructor for IKN, teaching healthcare, performance, and wellness professionals across the U.S.

Starting his own cash-based PT company has allowed him to provide his clients with what he thinks are the best techniques in sports and rehab without the limitation of having to see multiple patients at once and not having to follow strict guidelines for billing from the insurance companies.

Dr. Mike lives in Rochester, NY with his wife Michele, daughters Layla & Olivia, black Labrador Retriever Ruger, and two cats, Moo and Frank. He is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, and skiing.
